In 1937 Hungarian Gyorgy Kepes emigrated to the United States. He joined Moholy Nagy in Chicago as a teacher at the Institute of Design.His photograms were a link between his painting, films and technological art projects, made by placing objects directly onto light sensitive paper and exposing the paper to light Light, the essence of photography, is at the heart of his photograms.
