In 1960 Treiman moved to Los Angeles, where she felt the influences of California light and color. Trips to Europe and the Near East during the 1950s and '60s intensified her interest in the old master paintings, particularly self portraiture. In 1974, she began a series of works which she titled, 'The Artist Series', in which she paid homage to Turner, Monet, Bonnard, Sargent....and herself. Including her self portrait in each work, she commented on the history of art, culture and technology.
Treiman's strength lies in her incredibly fine 'hand' and the ability to move freely in and out of her own established boundaries. She projects a confidence, a wit and a strong sense of self into her art - paintings, drawings, watercolors and prints."
