In the 1930s Falkenstein studied at UC Berkeley and was accepted into the SF WPA/FAP During the 1940s she taught at Mills College in Oakland, CA and California School of Fine Arts in SF. For almost twenty years she maintained a welding studio on the Left Bank in Paris with excursions down to Italy for printmaking, before establishing herself in Venice, CA. where she organized an active studio/shop until she died.
