"Francisco Zuniga came to Mexico City in 1936 to extend his studies in art. Exposure to early pre-hispanic sculpture elicited a deep response through his expressive work. He soon abandoned painting, as a medium, in favor of drawing from the model for sculpture. He has always given the drawing equal status, as he translates the 'line' on the paper directly into the three-dimensional form.
Zuniga's stellar position in art history is unchallenged and his work is found in museums, sculpture gardens and private collections throughout the world."
